Golf Lands Six on NECC All-Academic Team

David Hashagen Springfield, Mass. - January 30, 2014 - The Springfield College golf team had six student-athletes named to the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Academic All-Conference team on Thursday.

Springfield's six honorees were the most of any institution that competed for the NECC Golf Championship. Micheal Katzer (West Springfield, Mass.), Adam Ziewacz (Simsbury, Conn.), David Hashagen (Morris Plains, N.J.), Mike Nowakowski (Southington, Conn.), Brian Silva (Tyngsborough, Mass.) and Joe Sobowicz (Farmington, Conn.) all met the qualifications to earn the accolade.

A total of 198 student-athletes from eight different sports were honored with the academic award. To be eligible for the NECC Academic All-Conference, a student-athlete must post a minimum grade point average of 3.40 on a scale of 4.00 and must be a sophomore or higher in class standings.

This fall, the Pride finish third at the NECC championship at Wedgewood Pines Country Club. Springfield had two golfers earn all-conference honors, including Hashagen who finished eighth overall.

Head Coach Joe Eadie

Joe Eadie Joe Eadie enters his 20th season as the head men's golf coach at Springfield College in the fall of 2012. Eadie is the head golf professional at the Fenway Golf Range in nearby East Longmeadow, and is in the process of becoming a PGA Professional.
