The Pride's two selections to the all-league first team included offensive lineman Mike MacDonald (Dighton, Mass.) defensive back Sam Weiss (Glasser, N.J.). Linebacker Dan Macalena (Congers, N.Y.) took home second-team honors, while center Scott Leech (Lincoln, R.I.) and defensive lineman Kashden Naraine (Windsor, Conn.) were named honorable mention.
Last season, both MacDonald and Weiss were honored with second-team honors. MacDonald has anchored an offensive line that has averaged over 306 yards on the ground per game, while Weiss ranks second on the team with 61 tackles and has recorded three interceptions and five pass break-ups, both of which lead the team.
Macalena has had a standout season for the Pride, leading the squad with 63 tackles, including 16 tackles-for-loss, to go along with five sacks and three forced fumbles. Leech is another integral part of a Springfield offensive line that ranks fifth in the Division III in rushing, while Naraine has registered 28 tackles in his sophomore campaign.
The Pride finished the regular season with a 6-3 overall record and will host Norwich University this Saturday in the ECAC North Atlantic Championship Bowl.
