Destin, Fla. - May 14, 2013 - The Springfield College golf team competed in the opening round of the NCAA Division III Championships on Tuesday afternoon at the Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort.
Playing the Par 71, 6,854 yard Raven Course, Springfield put together a team total of 345 strokes to currently sit in 41st place.
Tom Sangeloty fired a team-best 84 (+13) on the day to lead the Pride. The graduate student was just +7 over through 16 holes before triple-bogeying the final two holes.
The Pride's Chris Vincent shot on 86 (+15) on the afternoon, and was solid on the back nine, playing it as just +5 over par. Right behind Vincent was Adam Ziewacz, who totaled an 87 for Springfield.
Ryne McEvoy registered an 88 as Springfield's fourth-best score, while Tim Vollaro rounded out the Pride's scores with a 96.
The Pride will be back in action for the second round when the squad tees off on Wednesday morning.
