



Springfield, Mass. -- February 1, 2009 -- Kayleigh Davis had personal bests on both the floor exercise and on the uneven parallel bars to lead her Springfield College women's gymnastics team to an upset victory, 184.950 - 181.575, over No. 2-ranked Ithaca College this afternoon on Super Bowl Sunday at SC's Blake Arena. Three Springfield College seniors were honored on Senior Day during SC's last home meet of the year. They included Penelope Bohunko (Wilkes Barre, Pa.), Jacqui Mazzola (Framingham, Mass.), and Jenna Williams (Townsend, Mass.).
Davis's scores of 9.70 on floor exercise and 9.00 on uneven parallel bars were the best of her career to date. Davis is a junior from Whitefield, N.H. She tied for first on floor, tied for third on bars, and finished fifth on the beam (9.150).
Others who did very well for Springfield included junior Ericca Castagna (Topsfield, Mass.), who won the vault with a score of 9.60, and who finished tied for fifth on the floor (9.58), as well as Mazzola, who finished second in the vault (9.58), and tied for fifth on the floor (9.58).
Springfield finished extremely well in the vault, finishing 1 through 6.
Ithaca had three take firsts. Senior Frances Ente (Fairfield, Conn.) finished first in the bars (9.43). Junior Brianne Sullivan (Ganesvoort, N.Y.) won the beam (9.55), and junior Emily Graber (St. James, N.Y.) tied for first on floor (9.70).
The Bombers finished 1-2-3 in the balance beam.
