



Complete BracketsGrantham, Pa. - December 5, 2008 - The Springfield College wrestling team had a very strong opening day in the Messiah College Petrofes Invitational on Friday. After the first day, the Pride sit in third place with 76.5 points.
Heading into Saturday's competition, several members of the Pride are still in the championship brackets.
In the 141 pound weight class, Springfield's Eddie Giron and Ryan McGilvray are two of the final four left in the championship bracket. If each were to win their semifinal bout, they would square off against each other for the 141 pound crown. Each won two matches on Friday.
At 157, senior Rob Mifsud continues to impress this season as he won both his matches on Friday. The top seed in the class, Mifsud will take on Chris Springer from Ursinus in his semifinal match on Saturday.
Chris Perry won two matches in impressive fashion, one by a pin in 2:02 and another by a score of 15-1 as he advanced to the semifinals as the second seed in the 165 weight class.
The final wrestler still alive in his respective championship bracket is second-seeded Chris Brown. Brown won three matches on Friday to advance.

Jason Holder will enter his third season as head wrestling coach in 2013. Holder had a standout first season at the helm of the Pride, leading Springfield to the NEWA Duals Championship and taking three wrestlers to the NCAA Championships.
