Softball Sweeps A Pair in Final Day of Rebel Games

Tess Gagliano Kissimmee, Fla. - March 19, 2010 - The Springfield College softball team swept a pair of games in their final day of the 2010 Rebel Games on Friday afternoon. The Pride scored 20 runs on the day as it defeated William Paterson, 10-8, and Transylvania, 10-7. SC ended its Spring Break trip with a 4-6 record.

In the win over Transylvania, Stef Grande pitched a complete game victory as she scattered nine hits and struck out three.

The Pride opened up a 5-0 lead through 4 1/2 innings, however Transylvania closed Springfield's lead to one, 8-7, after Springfield gave up five runs in the bottom of sixth.

SC tacked on two more runs in the top of the seventh as it held on for the 10-7 victory. In the contest, Transylvania committed 5 errors, in addition to allowing SC 12 hits.

Chelsea Bender went 2-for-3 at the plate and scored three runs, while Tess Gagliano had three hits in the game and totaled three runs of her own. Kelly Blake chipped in with three RBI as she connected for a pair of doubles in the win.
