



Complete ResultsSpringfield, Mass. -- December 3, 2011 -- The Springfield College women's track and field team dominated a season-opening five-way indoor meet in the Springfield College Field House this afternoon, scoring 247.5 points in defeating four other teams.
Team scores were as follows: Springfield 247.5, Westfield State 120.5, WPI 83, Eastern Conn. State 74, RIC 57.
Laurie Jenkins won the 60 meter dash in 8.09 before winning the 200 meter dash in 26.51. Springfield's Kathryn Schumann took first in the 400 in 1:00.59, while Nicole DeChristoforo won the 800 in 2:29.39. Also producing wins included Michelle Mirti in the 1,000 (3:21.76) and Sissel Holloway in the 5,000 (20:04.65).
Kelly Curtis sprinted to a win in the 60 meter hurdles in 9.49, and Amanda Martin posted a pair of victories in both the long jump (5.02m, 16-05.75) and triple jump (10.90m, 35-09.25).
Michelle Angelo produced a heave 11.39m (37-04.50) to win the shot put competition.
The Pride's 4x200 relay team of Crystal Davis, Schumann, Elizabeth Saia, and Jenkins also won after combining for a time of 1:47.22.
Jim Pennington enters his 29th season as head coach of the Springfield College women’s cross country and track and field teams in 2012-2013. Under Pennington’s direction, the Pride has recorded seven top 20 finishes at the NCAA Indoor and Outdoor Track & Field Championships, and seven top 15 finishes at the NCAA Cross Country Championships.
