



Complete ResultsSpringfield, Mass. -- May 2, 2009 -- MIT captured its first New England Division III Women's Track & Field Team Championship, and by so doing snapped a lengthy streak of nine straight titles by Williams College today under sunny skies at Springfield College's Blake Track. MIT scored 152.50 points, followed closely by Williams at 143, then Middlebury with 68. Host Springfield finished in a tie for sixth with Tufts with 56 points.
Following Middlebury's third-place total of 68 points came Bowdoin with 62, Wheaton (57), Springfield and Tufts (56), Colby (51), Bates (40.50), Brandeis (25), Trinity (19), Southern Maine (17), Keene State (16), Amherst and Westfield State (14), Smith and Worcester State (13), Conn. College (8), RIC (7), Salem State (6), Bridgewater State (5), Coast Guard, UMass Dartmouth, and WPI (4), Colby-Sawyer (2), and Mount Holyoke (in 26th with 1 point).

Jim Pennington enters his 29th season as head coach of the Springfield College women’s cross country and track and field teams in 2012-2013. Under Pennington’s direction, the Pride has recorded seven top 20 finishes at the NCAA Indoor and Outdoor Track & Field Championships, and seven top 15 finishes at the NCAA Cross Country Championships.
