



Kansas City, Mo. - November 20, 2012 - The Springfield College women's soccer team was one of 723 college soccer teams from across the nation to post a team grade point average of 3.0 or higher.With that accomplishment, the Pride earned the NSCAA Team Academic Award for the 2011-12 academic year, the National Soccer Coaches Association of America announced.
Head coach John Gibson's squad totaled a 3.26 team GPA and was one of four schools in the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) to garner the academic accolade.
This season, Springfield advanced to its third-straight NCAA Division III Women's Soccer Championship after capturing the NEWMAC title by virtue of penalty kicks over Wheaton College.
John Gibson, a native of London, England, enters his 14th season as head women's soccer at Springfield College in the fall of 2013. Gibson has led the Pride to the NCAA Tournament in six of the last eight years and has established the Pride as one of the top programs in the country. His clubs have registered an impressive a 165-75-21 record.
