



Complete ResultsWilliamstown, Mass. - November 5, 2011 - The Springfield College men's cross country team raced in the ECAC Division III Cross Country Championships on Saturday afternoon and finished 17th out of 44 teams competing.
The host Williams College Ephs won the race at Mount Greylock High School as they totaled 44 points, followed by Tufts (77) and Middlebury (102).
Sophomore Erich Voelker (Albany, N.Y.) ran the 8k course the fastest for Springfield on the day as he crossed the finish line in 28:06.00, good enough for 57th place. Teammate and freshman Joe Geurds (Albany, N.Y.) finished next in 28:40.90, while senior James Gornall (Uxbridge, Mass.) posted a time of 29:01.22. The Pride's final two runners crossed together with sophomore Corey Hamel (Methuen, Mass.) finishing in 29:23.82 and freshman Marck Bashaw (Ludlow, Mass.) in 29:24.26.
Springfield will now prep for the NCAA Division III New England Regionals next weekend in Brunswick, Maine.
Bryan Brown will enter his second season as the head men's cross country coach in the fall of 2012. Brown, who was a former All-American at Springfield College in track, led Springfield to a second-place finish at the NEWMAC Championships a year ago .
