



SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – October 21, 2008 – The Springfield College softball team, the New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference tournament champion in 2007-2008, received good news today from the National Fastpitch Coaches Association.The NFCA announced the “girls got game” Top Ten All-Academic Teams from 2007-2008 – and Springfield College was tied for 8th in NCAA Division III with a 3.450 Team GPA. The Pride placed first among schools within the NEWMAC, and second in New England Division III.
Macalester College finished first in the division with a 3.549 Team GPA, followed by Wartburg (3.540), Kalamazoo (3.531), Emerson ((3.52.3), Skidmore (3.522), Elmhurst ((3.493), Gettysburg (3.488), Springfield and Piedmont (3.450), and Wisconsin-Whitewater (3.445).
Under Head Coach Kathy Mangano, the Pride won the NEWMAC tourney title last May, and went on to compete in the NCAA Tournament.

Julie Perrelli enters her fourth season at the helm of the Springfield College softball program and as an assistant professor of physical education. In her first three seasons in the dugout for the Pride, Perelli has guided Springfield to two NEWMAC Championship title games. Read more.
