Ewing, N.J. - December 6, 2008 - For the second-straight day, a school record fell in the diving events as the Springfield College men's and women's swimming and diving team competed in The College of New Jersey's Lion Invitational.
Brian Sobel broke former Springfield diving great Mike Shaw's record of 324.975 on the one-meter board which was set in 2006. This afternoon, Sobel tallied an incredible 329.63 in six dives on the one-meter board. As of today, Sobel's mark is the highest score in the country this season on the one-meter board.
For the women, the trio of Michelle Reggio, Meghan Kijanka, and Courtney Keefe continued to excel as they took the top three spots in the three-meter, with Reggio and Kijanka setting qualifying marks. Reggio took first with a 290.70, while Kijanka followed with a 267.38. Keefe rounded out the three with a 264.60.
As for the swimming events, SC took the 200 medley relay on both the men's and women's side as Kallie Pottle, Moira Price, Kaitlin Reilly, and Jaclyn Van Waalwijk touched in 1:51.56, while Ryan Mackstutis, Andrew Blakesley, Brian Way and Matt Manoni finished in 1:37.70.
Price and Mackstutis also picked up in a wins in the 100 breast as Price touched in 1:06.63 and Mackstutis finished in 1:00.20
