Cortland Bests Women's Gymnastics on Super Bowl Sunday

Cortland, N.Y. -– February 6, 2011 -- Sophomore Sarah Nadrowski (Tonawanda, N.Y.) won three events and the all-around and junior Marissa Goodstein (Toms River, NJ.) matched the second-best vault score in school history as the Cortland women's gymnastics team defeated visiting Springfield College, 184.20-179.75, in a dual meet this afternoon at Corey Gymnasium.

Nadrowski finished first among three all-around competitors with a 37.90. She set a career high with her winning score of 9.60 on floor exercise and tied her career best with a first-place score of 9.45 on uneven bars. She also won balance beam with a 9.325 and placed second on vault with a 9.525. Goodstein won vault with a 9.725. The score tied her career best and is tied for second on Cortland’s career vault charts.

Sophomore Amanda Recor (Lancaster, N.Y.) tied for second on balance beam with a 9.275, finished third on vault with a 9.425, and tied her career high on floor exercise with a fourth-place effort of 9.325. Sophomore Annelise Hoffman (Pine Plains, N.Y.) tied for second on balance beam (9.275) and was fourth on vault (9.40), while freshman Stephanie Sladky (East Islip) finished second on uneven bars with a career-high 9.275 and tied for fifth on floor exercise , also with a 9.275.

Freshman Courtney Mangini (Dix Hills, N.Y.) tied for fifth place on both vault (9.325) and balance beam (8.90). She competed in the all-around for the first time in her collegiate career and placed third with a 35.85. Junior Ashley Fleming (Holbrook, N.Y.) tied for fifth place on balance beam with an 8.90.

Springfield sophomore Brittany Baglow (Amherst, Mass.) finished second on floor exercise with a 9.575, followed by senior Christina Pagella (Westfield, Mass.) in third place with a 9.425. Senior co-captain Marissa Rusin (Garwood, N.J.) placed third on uneven bars with a 9.10, with senior teammate Ashley Moreck (Berlin, Md.) fourth with a 9.075.

Also for the Pride, sophomore Annmarie Graziosa (Eastchester, N.Y.) finished fourth on balance beam (9.025), freshman Sarah Perry (Collinsville, Ill.) placed fifth on uneven bars (8.90), junior Carly Flynn (Franklin, Mass.) tied for fifth on vault (9.325) and senior Lizzie Sartell Narragansett, R.I.) tied for fifth on floor exercise (9.275).

Next Saturday (Feb. 12), SC will compete at Yale at 1 pm.
