



Annapolis, Md. - February 28, 2009 - The Springfield College men's gymnastics team placed third out of three teams at Navy on Saturday afternoon as it tallied 328.1 points on the day. Navy took first with 336.05 points while William & Mary finished second with a score of 333.4.The meet featured three teams ranked in the top 16 in the country as Navy entered the event ranked 12th, Williams & Mary 14th, and Springfield 16th.
Out of the six individual events, Springfield won a pair of them as Josh Fox took first in the floor exercise with a 15.150 and Matt Bolognese finished first on the still rings with a 14.600. Ty Evans also continued his strong freshman year as he finished third in the all-around with a 81.900. Fox took fourth in the all-around competition with an 81.550.
Other strong performers on the day for the Pride included Keith Stumpf, who placed fourth on the floor exercise with a 14.450 and Andy Kelly, who took sixth on the floor with a 14.350. Ken Sloanhoffer took sixth on the vault with a 14.850, while Kyle Bartgis also took sixth place on the parallel bars with a score of 13.550.


Entering his 31st season as head men's gymnastics coach, Dr. Steve Posner is recognized as one of the most outstanding gymnastics coaches in the East. Posner led the Pride to another successful season in 2012 and was named the EIGL Coach of the Year. Read more.
