Baker, Hammerstrom, Dayton Event Winners in Men's Track and Field Tri-Meet

of Springfield College all triumphed in their field event specialities at this afternoon's track & field tri-meet at the Pride's Blake Track. In team results, Middlebury won with 181 points, followed by Bowdoin with 143.5, and Springfield with 87.5.
Baker won the high jump with a leap of 6-feet, 2-inches. Hammerstrom captured the shot put with a heave of 43-feet, 9-inches. And Dayton took the hammer throw with a toss of 177-feet, 5-inches.
Also winning for host Springfield was Dan Sugar in the 10,000-meter run as he finished in 37:48.56.
Second-place winners for the Pride included Ken Toal in the 100 meters in 11.27 seconds, and Peter Andrews in the hammer with a toss of 169-feet, 1-inch.

Ken Klatka, just inducted into the Springfield College Athletic Hall of Fame in October, 2011, enters his 37th season as head coach of the men’s track and field program in 2012-2013. He ranks among the nation’s most successful coaches, with an overall record of 442 wins, 144 losses, and two ties for an impressive .753 winning percentage. Under his direction, Kevin Coyle '12 won the 2011 Division III Indoor Long Jump National Championship.
