Dayton Leads Men's Track and Field at New England Division III Championships
Waterville, Maine - May 3-4, 2013 - The Springfield College men's track and field team competed at the New England Division III Championships over the weekend and finished in 18th place.
As a team, Springfield totaled 14 points in the competition and had several student-athletes earn All-New England honors by placing in the top eight of their event.
John Dayton was the regional runner-up in the weight throw after registering a toss of 185-05, while teammate Peter Andrews placed eighth in the event with a mark of 166-09.
In the 3,000 meter steeplechase, Anthony Salvucci clocked in at 9:11.25 to finish fourth.

Ken Klatka, just inducted into the Springfield College Athletic Hall of Fame in October, 2011, enters his 37th season as head coach of the men’s track and field program in 2012-2013. He ranks among the nation’s most successful coaches, with an overall record of 442 wins, 144 losses, and two ties for an impressive .753 winning percentage. Under his direction, Kevin Coyle '12 won the 2011 Division III Indoor Long Jump National Championship.
