Williamsport, Pa. -- January 13, 2012 -- The Springfield College wrestling team, a #5-seed in this tournament, defeated SUNY-Oswego, 36-6, this morning in the first round of the Budd Whitehill Invitational. SC then defeated #4-seeded Messiah, 22-12, this afternoon. SC thus advances in this two-day, 20-team tourney.With the wins, Springfield is now 3-0 in dual-meet competition.
Double winners for SC today included freshman Erick Hamrick (Collingswood, N.J.) at 149, senior Ryan McGilvray (Manalapan, N.J.) at 157, junior Derek Longo (Ardsley, N.Y.) at 165, junior Jeremy Burns (Hoosick Falls, N.Y.) at 197, and senior John Gabordi (Ledyard, Conn.) at 285.
