



Springfield, Mass. -- April 14, 2011 -- The Springfield College men's tennis team fell to Connecticut College, 9-0, under sunny skies this afternoon at the Appleton Courts in non-conference play.The SC player who fought the hardest was senior Eric Henne (Bristol, Conn.), who lost to freshman Will Tucker (London, England) by a score of 5-7, 6-1, 6-2.
Otherwise, the remaining scores all came by straight sets.
For the Camels, senior Trevor Prophet won at No. 1 singles over sophomore Ben Burnap (Westerly, R.I.), 6-2, 6-3.
At No. 2, junior Jeff Weisberger defeated junior Doug Nickerson (Falmouth, Me.), 6-2, 6-1.
Connecticut College swept the doubles matches, no worse than 8-3, giving the Camels a quick 3-0 lead.
Conn College is now 9-7, while SC falls to 3-4.
Springfield hosts NEWMAC conference power MIT this Saturday at 1 pm at the Appleton Courts.

Toby Coffin G’01, enters his second year as the head men’s and women’s tennis coach at Springfield College. Coffin, who has coached at numerous high schools in the area, will look to build a program which will contend for a conference crown.
