Cambridge, Mass. - February 14, 2009 - The Springfield College women's track and field team competed at the MIT Invitational on Saturday afternoon. Leading the way for Springfield was Nikki Hay, who put together a sensational performance in several events, and setting two school records in the process.

Hay continued to dominate the New England track and field scene as she took first in the long jump (18'00 1/2), the triple jump (38'11 3/4), and the 200 meters (25.55).

Hay's marks for the day were some of the best in program history, as she broke her own school record in the triple jump that she had previously set last year with a 38-1 1/4. She also tied the school record in the 200 meters, a record she now shares with former All-American, Janet Williams. Hay's electronically-timed mark of 25.55 is the equivalent of Williams' hand-time of 25.3, which she set in 1986.

Hay met the NCAA Provisional qualifying mark in the long jump once again, became an automatic qualifier in the triple jump for the NCAA Championships, and qualified for the Division III New England, Open New England, and ECAC Championships.

Erika Marks posted a pair of second place finishes in both the 55 meter dash (7.50) and the 200 meters (26.24). Lacey Cartier crossed the finish line second in the 800 in 2:24.23.

Hay was also the third leg of the 4x400 relay team that finished second in 4:09.62. The relay team of Hay, Joy Jennifer, Kathryn Schumann, and Katie Parente also qualified for the Division III New England, Open New England, and ECAC Championships.
