Normoyle Races In 100 Breast at NCAA Championships

Michael Normoyle Houston, Texas - March 22, 2013 - Springfield College's Michael Normoyle raced in the 100 breast stroke on Friday morning in the NCAA Division III Men's Swimming and Diving Championships. The first-year clocked in the 17th-fastest time of the prelims as he touched in 56.68.

The top 16 swimmers will compete in the finals and consolation finals in the evening session, and Normoyle will be the first alternate, missing the top 16 by 1/100th of a second.

A native of Springfield, Mass., Normoyle will race in his third and final event on Saturday, the 200 breast stroke. This year's New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Rookie of the Year, he enters the race ranked fifth, as his qualifying time of 2:02.20 is the fastest time among freshmen in the country.
