Men's Track & Field Competes at All-New England Championship

Parker Ashton-Youngs Complete Results

Westfield, Mass. - May 10, 2014 - The Springfield College men's track & field team competed at the All-New England Championships on Friday and Saturday, a meet consisting of teams from Division I, II, and III. The championship was hosted by Westfield State University.

Parker Ashton-Youngs (Tolland, Conn.) led the Pride on Friday evening with a 15th place finish in the javelin. The senior tossed a distance of 172-04.

On Saturday, Springfield's 4x100 relay team of Marcus Brown (Randolph, Mass.), Jacob Buhelt (Falmouth, Maine), Brian Stacy (Belchertown, Mass.) and Ken Toal (Newtown, Conn.) finished 18th overall with a combined time of 43.31.

Individually on Friday, Toal took 29th place in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.40.

Ken Klatka Ken Klatka, an associate professor of physical education at Springfield College, will enter his 38th season as head coach, and 44th as a coach overall, of the men’s track and field program in 2013-2014. He ranks among the nation’s most successful coaches, with an overall record of 447 wins, 156 losses, and two ties for an impressive .743 winning percentage.
