



Bristol, R.I. – November 7, 2010 – Led by an All-ECAC performance from senior Lacey Cartier, the Springfield College women’s cross country team had a solid showing at the ECAC Division III Championships on Saturday afternoon, placing seventh out of 39 participating teams. The Pride women totaled 248 points in the team event.Middlebury took the team crown with 21 points and six top-8 finishers. Williams (72 points), Amherst (73), Franciscan (110), and Colby (195) rounded out the top-five.
The Springfield women were led once again by Cartier, who ran a great race for the Pride. Cartier completed the 6K course in 23:04.15, good for a top-10 finish. In all, the Pride saw five top-75 finishers. Others that ran well were freshman Erica Fisher with a time of 24:34.44, Molly Powell with a time of 24:45.10, Katherine Burns with a 25:08.50, and Sissell Holloway with a 25:11.72.
The Pride women will be in Williamstown, Mass. next Saturday for the NCAA Division III New England Regionals.
Jim Pennington enters his 28th season as head coach of the Springfield College women’s cross country and track and field teams in 2011-2012. Under Pennington’s direction, the Pride has recorded seven top 20 finishes at the NCAA Indoor and Outdoor Track & Field Championships, and seven top 15 finishes at the NCAA Cross Country Championships.
