Dartmouth, Mass. - September 15, 2012 - The Springfield College men’s cross country team finished second out of 39 competing teams at the UMass Dartmouth Cross Country Invitational on Saturday. The Pride finished the 8,000 meter course with 104 total points.
MIT was able to win the event with a total of 63 points, placing all five of its runners in the top 24.
Anthony Salvucci had an impressive showing for Springfield, as he finished second out of the 293 total runners. Salvucci’s time was 24:43.18, less than a second shy of the winning time of Stephen Wahome from Bridgewater State.
Zach Pietras also had a top five finish for the Pride, as he finished fourth overall, with a time of 24:52.57. Ryan O’Connell finished ninth with a time of 25:15.04.
Erich Voelker finished 30th with a time of 25:59.78. Also, placing in the top five for the Springfield men’s team was Matt Scully, who finished 64th after running to a time of 26:36.61.
The men’s cross country team will be back in action next weekend, as they travel to Williamstown, Mass. to compete in the Purple Valley Classic.
