Men's Gymnastics Defeats William & Mary, 332.700 to 331.800

Springfield, Mass. -- March 11, 2012 -- The Springfield College men's gymnastics team defeated their counterparts from William & Mary, 332.700 to 331.800, this afternoon at SC's Blake Arena. It was the Pride's highest score of the season to date.

Sophomore Daniel Potemski (Round Rock, Texas) had the day's high score in the all-around competition at 82.700. He had some very good scores individually -- including a tie for second in the floor exercise (14.400), a third in the vault (14.600), a tie for third in the high bar (13.800), and a sixth in the pommel horse (13.100).

Others finishing first for SC in individual events included junior Jimmy Pezzino (Buffalo, N.Y.) in the floor exercise (14.800), freshman Pat Ryther (Boston, Mass.) in the pommel horse (14.200), sophomore Ryan Ponce (Tolland, Conn.) in the still rings (15.400, the high score of the day), junior Chris Jost (Ashland, Mass.) in the vault (15.000), and a tie for first between senior Ty Evans (San Jose, Calif.) and freshman Ian Stratton (Elizabeth City, N.C.) in the parallel bars (14.000).

Evans also tied for first in the high bar (14.000) along with freshman Michael Dietz (Manassas, Va.) of William & Mary.

Following today, SC will host the New England Men's Gymnastics Invitational Championships on Saturday, March 17 in Blake Arena at 1 pm.
