



Complete ResultsSutton, Mass. -- April 17, 2012 -- The Springfield College men's golf team tied for eighth place with 343 strokes at today's Worcester State Invitational at the Blackstone National Golf Club.
There were 15 teams participating in the one-day tourney. It was a par-72 course. The length was 6,655 yards.
Salem State was the team winner with 312 strokes. Western New England was second at 326, followed by Rhode Island College (327), Endicott (332), Elms (335), Anna Maria (336), UMass Dartmouth (337), Springfield and Westfield State (343), Nichols (347), Worcester State (351), Franklin Pierce (352), Johnson & Wales (353), Tufts (373), and Mitchell (443).
Nick Zolotas of Salem State was the medalist, shooting a superb round of 66. That included a 32 on the front nine. Shane Ortega of MCLA, Henry Fall of Elms, and Nathan McNamara of Anna Maria all shot 77's to finish in a tie for second.
As for Springfield College, Thomas Sangeloty (Unionville, Conn.) finished in a tie for 18th and was SC's top finisher with an 83. That included a 39 on the front side. He was followed by Chris Vincent (Norwich, Conn.) in a tie for 23rd with an 84. Up next was senior Pat Marra (Mechanicville, N.Y.) in a tie for 35th with an 86. Senior Mike Ference (Medway, Mass.) was next with a 90 in a tie for 53rd. Jordan Maynard (Norwich, Conn.) brought up the rear with a 96, finishing in a tie for 64th.
Joe Eadie enters his 20th season as the head men's golf coach at Springfield College in the fall of 2012. Eadie is the head golf professional at the Fenway Golf Range in nearby East Longmeadow, and is in the process of becoming a PGA Professional.
