Waterville, Maine - May 3-4, 2013 - The Springfield College women's track and field had a great showing at the New England Division III Championships over the weekend as it finished sixth behind several standout performances.
The Pride finished the three-day event with 46 points, finishing behind MIT (126.5), Tufts (93), Colby (78), Williams (75), and Worcester State (50).
Amanda Martin continued to shine in the jumping events with a pair of top-four performances. She was the regional runner-up in the triple jump after registering a 38-00.25 and took fourth in the long jump with a mark of 17-02.75.
Laurie Jenkins also scored second-place points after racing in the 100 meter dash. After running the fastest time in the prelims (12.41), Jenkins crossed the finish line in 12.50 in the finals for second.
In the 800 meters, Gabriella Gaudreault finished second with a time of 2:11.50, which proved to be the second-fastest time ever run at the facility.
On Friday, Colleen Brague placed third in the javelin, reaching a distance of 125-10, while the following day in the pole vault, Rhiann Dugan tied for seventh place after tallying a height of 10-08.00.
Springfield has a pair of relays that also finished fourth on the weekend. The 4x100 relay team of Elizabeth Saia, Jenkins, Darian Dailey, and Crystal Davis combined to run a 48.37 en route to fourth, while the 4x400 team of Jenkins, Jessica Miller, Gaudreault, and Davis clocked in at 3:54.78.
