Hay Runs In 100 at NCAA Championships

Nikki Hay Berea, Ohio - May 28, 2010 - Senior Nikki Hay competed in the prelims of the 100 meter dash on Friday afternoon at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Women's Track and Field Championships. Despite running a time of 12.11, Hay was unable to qualify for the finals as she missed out by .02 seconds.

Running the first heat, which produced four of the eight finalists, Hay finished fifth with her 12.11. Of the 22 runners in the event, Hay ran the ninth fastest time, just missing out on placing in the top eight which would have guaranteed her a spot in the finals.

Hay, who has already earned an All-America status this weekend as she took fifth in the long jump, will compete in a pair of events on Saturday. She will join her teammates in the finals of the 4x100 and compete in her speciality, the triple jump.

The 4x100 team ran the third fastest time in the prelims on Thursday after crossing the finish line in 46.91. Hay looks to finish off her sensational collegiate career in the triple jump, the event she was crowned the national champion at this year's NCAA Indoor Championships.
