



Williamsburg, Va. -- March 27, 2009 -- The Springfield College men's gymnastics team finished fourth of five varsity teams, and fourth of nine teams overall at the USAG's this evening at William & Mary. Freshman Ty Evans (San Jose, Calif.) also finished second, and sophomore Josh Fox (Ellicott City, Md.) finished fourth in the All-Around.Springfield finished with a total of 328.950 points. Host William & Mary won the varsity title with 337.150 points. They were followed by Navy (333.750), Air Force (332.750), Springfield, and MIT (313.300). On the Club side, Arizona State finished first with 320.350 points, followed by Washington (309.950), James Madison (291.600), and SUNY-Brockport (137.900).
Several Springfield performers advanced to the individual finals, which will be determined tomorrow (Saturday). Evans will compete in the floor exercise, vault, and the high bar. Sophomore Mike Freundlich (Westfield, N.J.) will compete in the pommel horse. Senior Matt Bolognese (Stony Brook, N.Y.) will compete in the still rings. And senior Andy Kelly (Marstons Mills, Mass.) and junior Kyle Bartgis (Nottingham, Md.) will compete in the parallel bars.


Entering his 31st season as head men's gymnastics coach, Dr. Steve Posner is recognized as one of the most outstanding gymnastics coaches in the East. Posner led the Pride to another successful season in 2012 and was named the EIGL Coach of the Year. Read more.
