Complete ResultsLewiston, Maine - September 30, 2011 - Both Sam Carney and Jen Cleary competed in the 2011 UTSA/ITA New England Regional Championships over the weekend. Carney won her opening match in singles play, while the duo dropped their match in double competition.
In the singles competition, Carney bested Kiley Robbins from Wesleyan, 6-2, 6-2 before dropping a 6-0, 6-2 decision to Lindsay Katz from Tufts University.
Carney and Cleary battled tough in the doubles play and fell 8-4 against the top-seeded team in the competition, Kate Winingham and Kellen Alberstone from Bowdoin College.
Toby Coffin G’01, enters his third year as the head men’s and women’s tennis coach at Springfield College. Coffin, who has coached at numerous high schools in the area, will look to build a program which will contend for a conference crown.
