



New York, N.Y. --March 4, 2011 -- The 4x200 relay team of Springfield College led their women's track and field team to a 17th-place finish after one day of competition at the ECAC Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships at the Armory in New York City. Competition will continue Saturday throughout the day.The Pride scored six points and found itself in a tie for 17th place of 30 scoring teams through the first day and seven events.
The SC 4x200 meter relay team finished third with a time of 1:45.32. The team consisted of sophomore Crystal Davis, (Hartford, Conn.) freshman Gabriella Gaudreault (Leominster, Mass.), senior Kathryn Schumann (Cromwell, Conn.), and sophomore Laurie Jenkins (Columbia, Conn.).
Also competing for the Pride was the distance medley relay team of sophomore Nicole DeChristoforo (No. Kingston, R.I.), Shannon Park, sophomore Bethany Young (Canajoharie, N.Y.), and senior Ali Dalton (Schenectady, N.Y.). That foursome finished in 21st place with a time of 13:36.01.
In the 55-meters, Jenkins finished 12th with a time of 7.43 seconds.
Jim Pennington enters his 29th season as head coach of the Springfield College women’s cross country and track and field teams in 2012-2013. Under Pennington’s direction, the Pride has recorded seven top 20 finishes at the NCAA Indoor and Outdoor Track & Field Championships, and seven top 15 finishes at the NCAA Cross Country Championships.
