



Springfield, Mass. -- November 10, 2010 -- A total of eight Springfield College field hockey players have been named to the 2010 New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference All-Academic Team. They include: Meghan Bradley, Meagan Dobson, Joelle Gage, Alison McCarthy, Alexandra Mish, Jaclyn Novitzky, Anna Ragonese, and Kayla Sokol.Honorees must have met the following criteria: earned a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale after the 2010 spring semester, achieved second-year academic status at her institution, and been a member of the varsity team for the entire season.
SC's eight honorees tied WPI for the most number of honorees on this squad.
Springfield's honorees included senior midfielder Meghan Bradley (Cumberland, R.I.), senior forward Meagan Dobson (Longmeadow, Mass.), junior defender Joelle Gage (Saugerties, N.Y.), junior goalkeeper Alison McCarthy (North Andover, Mass.), sophomore defender Alexandra Mish (Southwick, Mass.), junior forward Jaclyn Novitzky (Monroe, Conn.), sophomore midfielder Anna Ragonese (Hopedale, Mass.), and sophomore midfielder Kayla Sokol (West Brookfield, Mass.).
After eight years as head coach of the Pride, Melissa Sharpe, has continued the SC tradition of winning on the field hockey turf, posting an impressive 120-58 record, good for a winning percentage of .674 at the helm of her alma mater. Read more.
