Men's Swimming & Diving Places Fifth at Ithaca Invitational
Ithaca, N.Y. - December 8, 2013 - The Springfield College men's swimming & diving team finished fifth out of 11 teams at the Ithaca Invitational this weekend. The three-day meet concluded on Sunday.
The Pride finished with 597 points while Cornell University won the invitational with 2187.5 points. Ithaca placed second, Hartwick College finished third while SUNY Geneseo and Springfield rounded out the top five.
Michael Normoyle (Springfield, Mass.) was Springfield's top swimmer on Sunday, placing sixth in the 200 breast. The sophomore finished the event in 2:10.08. Brad Mills (Enfield, Conn.) also had a good showing in the event, placing eighth in 2:12.39.
The Pride's 400 free relay team swam to an eighth place finish. The team of Hayden Cassidy (Ada, Mich.), Daniel Fay (Yorktown, N.Y.), Jason Scotto (Southbury, Conn.) and Normoyle swam a combined time of 3:14.61.

Diving Coach Peter Avdoulos
Peter Avdoulos is regarded as one of the top diving coaches in the nation, and will enter his 29th season as the diving coach for both the men's and women's programs in 2013-2014.
