Springfield, Mass. -- November 16, 2011 -- Kelly Gallo and Kayla Sokol of Springfield College have been named to the 2011 Longstreth/NFHCA Division III New England East All-Region team.Both Gallo and Sokol were named to the Second Team.
Earlier they were named to the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference team. Gallo was named First Team, Sokol Second Team.
Gallo, a Westfield, Mass. native, led Springfield in scoring with 27 points on 11 goals and five assists. She was also first on the squad in game-winning goals.
A native of West Brookfield, Mass, Sokol scored two goals on the season, and took the majority of Springfield's penalty corners.
After eight years as head coach of the Pride, Melissa Sharpe, has continued the SC tradition of winning on the field hockey turf, posting an impressive 120-58 record, good for a winning percentage of .674 at the helm of her alma mater. Read more.
