The Pride opened up the day with a 19-25, 25-18, 24-26, 25-19, 15-10 win over Williams before besting Middlebury 21-25, 25-22, 25-18, 22-25, 15-12.
Springfield improves to 25-5 and has now hit the 25-win plateau for the fifth-straight season. The Pride went into this weekend ranked fourth in New England in the latest NCAA regional rankings and comes away with a 3-0 record at the Invitational for the first time since 2008. Bowdoin was the only other program in the 16 team field to win all three of their matches.
A strong team effort helped power the Pride to another key regional win against Williams. Smolinski was once again dominant versus the Ephs, posting 24 kills on a .372 hitting percentage to go along with a team-best 20 digs. Mary Consol connected for 10 kills at a .400 clip, while Daniella Crismani chipped in nine kills and 13 digs. Whitney Miller racked up 46 assists in the victory, and Amy Entel recorded 22 digs and a pair of aces.
Once again, it took a complete team effort for Springfield to best Middlebury, with Smolinski producing 19 kills and 17 digs. Miller totaled 46 assists and 21 digs running the attack and Entel led the squad with 28 digs and three aces. Kerry Purcell totaled nine kills, and Crismani added 18 digs and seven kills.
