New London, Conn. - April 12, 2014 - The Springfield College women's track and field team competed in a tri-meet with Coast Guard and WPI on Saturday afternoon and finished third as a team.
The Pride had the two fastest times in the 800 meters, with Gabby Gaudreault (Leominster, Mass.) registering a winning time of 2:20.54. Teammate Samantha Pomroy (Lebanon, Maine) clocked in behind her with a 2:23.68.
Elizabeth Saia (Wallingford, Conn.) ran a 12.91 in the 100 meters for third place points, while in the 1500, Abigail Wright (Pittsfield, Mass.) took third with a 4:51.34.
Abby Clark (Holderness, N.H.) registered a time of 16.05 for third in the 100 hurdles and Emily Rund (Enfield, Conn.) placed third in the 3000 steeplechase with a 12:46.15.
The Pride's 4x400 relay team of Clark, Gaudreault, Pomroy, and Saia clocked in at 4:15.29 to take second.
Springfield dominated the jumping events, taking the top two spots in both the long and triple jump. Darian Dailey (East Providence, R.I.) and Amanda Martin (Bristol, Conn.) each recorded marks of 16-03.75 in the long jump, while Martin won the triple with a 35-01.75. Erin Womboldt (Falmouth, Mass.) finished as the runner up in the triple jump with a 33-08.50.
Rachel Kaliff's height of 4-06.00 in the high jump was good enough for second, Carly Markos (Walkill, N.Y.) took third in the shot with a heave of 31-06.75, and Lauren Dumaine (California, Ky.) tossed the discus 104-06 for third place,
