Headley Captures 100 Meter Dash at All-New England's at Northeastern

-- The Springfield College men's track & field team, once again led by senior Steve Headley
, finished 14th of 39 scoring teams at the New England Track & Field Championships, Open Division, at Northeastern University earlier today. Headley finished first in the 100 meters with a time of 10.40 seconds, contributing 10 team points.
Others also contributed to SC's total of 25 team points. They were Kevin Coyle, who finished third in the long jump with a leap of 6.88 meters or 22-feet, 7-inches. That produced six points. Matt Amendola placed fifth in the 200 with a time of 22.25 seconds. That produced four points.
The Pride ran two relays. The 4x100 finished fourth in 42.09, producing the remaining five points. The 4x800 relay finished 12th in 7:52.62.
The top 15 team scores were as follows: URI (95.33 pts), UMass-Lowell 90, Boston College (50.33), New Hampshire (47), AIC (45.33), MIT (36), Stonehill (35), Williams (31), UMass (30), Northeastern (29), Wheaton (28), Tufts and So. Conn. State (27), Springfield (25), and Bates (21). Thirty-nine teams scored at least one point.
Springfield will be hosting the ECAC Division III Track & Field Championships on its very own Blake Track next Thursday and Friday (May 13 and 14).

coach, and 44th as a coach overall, of the men’s track and field program in 2013-2014. He ranks
among the nation’s most successful coaches, with an
overall record of 447 wins, 156 losses, and two ties for
an impressive .743 winning percentage. In 2011, Klatka was inducted into the Springfield College Athletic Hall of Fame.
