Jennifer Thompson was named the NEWMAC Women's Diver of the Week for the fifth time this season, while Jack Lewis took home NEWMAC Men's Diver of the Week accolades for the fourth time as well. Freshman Callie Phillips was selected as the NEWMAC Women's Swimmer of the Week for the first time in her career.
Phillips was a key reason why Springfield was able to topple both Hartwick and Union on Saturday in a tri-meet. The East Longmeadow, Mass. native was tremendous as she picked up three victories, winning the 200 free in 1:59.41, touching first in the 200 IM in 2:14.04, and taking the 500 free in 5:14.97.
A product of Cheshire, Conn., Thompson continued to lead the Pride in the diving events as she swept the competition on Saturday. In the tri-meet win, Thompson was first on the one-meter board with a national qualifying score of 262.85 and also won the three-meter with a national qualifying mark of 288.45.
On the men's side, Lewis swept the diving competition in a tri-meet with Hartwick and Union on Saturday. On the one-meter board, the sophomore posted a winning and national qualifying score of 282.55. The Durham, N.H. native later won on the three-meter with another national-qualifying score of 281.05.
