20th-Ranked Bowdoin Holds Off Men's Lacrosse, 13-8

Ryan Murphy North Andover, Mass. - March 26, 2013 - The Springfield College men's lacrosse team could not overcome a slow start as it dropped a 13-8 decision to Bowdoin College on Tuesday night in a contest played at Merrimack College.

Bowdoin improved to 4-2 on the year as it was ranked 20th in the nation in this week's USILA National Poll. Springfield, which was receiving votes in the poll, is now 1-6.

Tony LaGuerre had a strong game for the Pride, posting three goals and an assist. Ryon Lynch netted a pair of goals and tacked on an assist, while Ryan Muphy tallied two helpers and found the back of the cage once.

At the "X", Branden Fernandez won 16-of-25 draws and picked up 11 grounds balls. Rob Maher finished the evening with 11 saves between the pipes.

The Pride will play its sixth nationally-ranked opponent of the year on Saturday when it makes the quick trip to cross-city rival Western New England for a 4:00 pm clash.
