400 Medley Relay Breaks School Record In Second Day Of NCAA Championships

- The 400 medley relay team set a new school record as the Springfield College women's swimming team competed in the second day of the NCAA Division III Women's Swimming and Diving Championships on Thursday.
After two day's of competition, the Pride are in 13th place overall with 39 points as a team.
In the first event of the prelims on Thursday morning, the 200 free relay, the Pride's Moira Price, Caroline Kosciusko, Jaclyn Van Waalwijk, and Kaitlin Reilly finished 15th in a time of 1:37.34. The squad then went on to place 13th in the consolation finals as they swam a combined time of 1:36.92. The relay, comprised of three freshman and Price, was seeded 11th heading into the meet with a seed time of 1:35.65.
The 400 medley relay team of Meg Cooney, Price, Reilly, and Kosciusko smashed a school record in the consolation final as they touched in 3:50.52 to finish in ninth place overall. Had the Pride qualified for the championship final, its time of 3:50.52 would have been the sixth-fastest time. Earlier in the day, the squad qualified for the consolation final as it placed ninth in the prelims with a time of 3:53.25. Springfield entered the race as the 13th seed with a qualifying time of 3:53.60.
Reilly also swam in the 100 fly and touched in 59.13 as she swam in the four lane in second of six heats. She had qualified for the event with a seed time of 58.20.
