



CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The MIT women’s tennis team topped Springfield College, 9-0, in the New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) opener for both teams. The Engineers’ ledger improved to 2-0 overall and 1-0 in the league while the Pride fell to 0-1 on the year and 0-1 in the NEWMAC. MIT will continue conference play on Saturday, Sept. 20 at Mount Holyoke College while Springfield will host Western New England College on Wednesday, Sept. 17.

Toby Coffin G’01, enters his second year as the head men’s and women’s tennis coach at Springfield College. Coffin, who has coached at numerous high schools in the area, will look to build a program which will contend for a conference crown.
