



Orlando, Fla. -- March 15, 2010 -- Sam Carney captured her match at No. 2 singles, but that proved to be the highlight for the Springfield College women's tennis team as Stevens Tech defeated SC, 6-3, this evening in both squad's 2010 spring openers in Orlando.Carney, the reigning New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference Women's Tennis Rookie of the Year, took her match by a score of 6-0, 7-6 (7-5). Other victors for SC included Kyla Walgren at No. 3 singles, and Erin Woodbury at No. 5 singles.
Up next on SC's Spring Break, the women will play Berry College of Mount Berry, Georgia Wednesday (Mar. 17) at 12:30 pm in Orlando.
