Seven Student-Athletes Earn CSCAA All-American Honors

Kellie Pennington Essex Falls, N.J. – April 11, 2014 - Seven members of the Springfield College women’s swimming and diving team were recently honored by the College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) for their performance in the pool during the 2013-2014 season.

Seniors Kellie Pennington (Monson, Mass.) and Jennifer Thompson (Cheshire, Conn.) were both selected as Division III All-Americans after their dominating performances at the Division III National Championship meet in Indianapolis, Ind. on March 19-22.

Pennington, a Physical Education major, picked up six All-American honors at the meet, in which she won her second national championship swimming for Springfield College. In 2012, the senior raced to a first-place finish in the 50 free, and followed it up with a first-place finish in 2014 in the 100 free.

Thompson, a senior Health Science major, placed third on the three-meter board and fifth on the one-meter to pick up her sixth and seventh All-American honors of her four-year career.

Also receiving CSCAA Honorable Mention All-American recognition was Delaney Dyjak (Ludlow, Mass.), Callie Phillips (East Longmeadow, Mass.), Ashleigh Monroe (Southbury, Conn.), Emily Medeiros (Wakefield, Mass.) and Nicole Scotto (Southbury, Conn.) after their performances at the NCAA Championship meet. Majors represented from these women include Criminal Justice, Physical Therapy, and Business Administration.

CSCAA NCAA All-America Honors are conferred upon those athletes who finish in the top-8 of an individual, or relay, event at their respective NCAA Swimming and Diving Championship.

Athletes who finish in places 9-16 in the consolation finals of individual, or relay, events at their respective NCAA Championship receive Honorable Mention All-America recognition.
