Ewing, N.J. - December 4, 2010 - Courtney Keefe, Jennifer Thompson, and Kellie Pennington each met national qualifying marks, as well as the 200 free relay in the opening night of the TCNJ Invitational of Friday.
After the first day of competition, Springfield is in second out of six teams with 375 points. Johns Hopkins University has a healthy lead after totaling 516 on the first day.
In the 200 free relay, Pennington Jaclyn Van Waalwijk, Caroline Kosciusko, and Kaitlin Reilly sprinted to a win in 1:36.84. Individually, Aimee Doe took second in the 200 free in 1:56.53 while Meredith Trumbull placed third in both the 200 fly (2:13.17) and the 400 IM (4:48.24).
Pennington continued to excel in the 50 free as she posted a school-record time of 23.56, besting former standout Moira Price's 23.69 from 2008.
In the diving well, Keefe finished in second on the one-meter with a score of 434.63, followed by Thompson, who placed third with a 421.35.
