RPI Edges Women's Tennis, 5-4

Jen Cleary Springfield, Mass. -- April 13, 2012 -- The Springfield College women's tennis team had a four-match winning streak snapped by RPI this afternoon at SC' s Julius Appleton Courts. Meghan Olson's win at No. 3 singles was the clincher for RPI.

With the loss, Springfield's record drops to 7-10.

Both junior Sam Carney (Franklin, Mass.) and sophomore Jen Cleary (Nahant, Mass.) came through with hard-fought three-set wins at No. 1 and No. 2 singles. Other SC winners included junior Siana Green (Pomfret, Conn.) at No. 4 singles, and the doubles team of Carney and Cleary at No. 1.

Olson's clincher came by a score of 6-3, 7-5. She is sophomore from Rochester, N.Y.
