



Complete ResultsNorth Dartmouth, Mass. - September 18, 2010 - The Springfield College women’s cross country team fared well at the UMass Dartmouth Invitational, placing 13th out of 39 teams with 413 points, just one spot behind host UMass-Dartmouth. Senior Lacey Cartier was the Pride’s top finisher in 39th.
Cartier, a senior from York, Maine, completed the 5K course in 19:24. Wellesley won the team event with 41 points, as it had four top-10 finishers. MIT (45 points), Keene State (93), Trinity (118), and UMass-Lowell (195) completed the top five.
Springfield’s other top finishers were junior Michelle Mirti (Pompton Plains, N.J.) in 20:02, junior Sissel Holloway (St. Croix, Virgin Islands) in 20:24, and first-year Claudia Severance (Moultonborough, N.H.) right behind her in 20:25.
The Pride women will join the men’s team in Williamstown next Saturday at the Purple Valley Classic at 12 noon.
Jim Pennington enters his 28th season as head coach of the Springfield College women’s cross country and track and field teams in 2011-2012. Under Pennington’s direction, the Pride has recorded seven top 20 finishes at the NCAA Indoor and Outdoor Track & Field Championships, and seven top 15 finishes at the NCAA Cross Country Championships.
