North Dartmouth, Mass. - September 18, 2010 - The Springfield College women’s cross country team fared well at the UMass Dartmouth Invitational, placing 13th out of 39 teams with 413 points, just one spot behind host UMass-Dartmouth. Senior Lacey Cartier was the Pride’s top finisher in 39th.
Cartier, a senior from York, Maine, completed the 5K course in 19:24. Wellesley won the team event with 41 points, as it had four top-10 finishers. MIT (45 points), Keene State (93), Trinity (118), and UMass-Lowell (195) completed the top five.
Springfield’s other top finishers were junior Michelle Mirti (Pompton Plains, N.J.) in 20:02, junior Sissel Holloway (St. Croix, Virgin Islands) in 20:24, and first-year Claudia Severance (Moultonborough, N.H.) right behind her in 20:25.
The Pride women will join the men’s team in Williamstown next Saturday at the Purple Valley Classic at 12 noon.
