



Springfield, Mass. - September 28, 2009 - The Springfield College golf team finished 20th overall over the weekend at the 26th Annual Duke Nelson Invitational Golf Tournament at Middlebury College. Springfield’s Craig DiFranco shot the Pride’s lowest score with a two round total of 159. DiFranco fired a first round score of 80, leaving him tied for 21st place out of 104 golfers after the first day. DiFranco followed up his first round by shooting an 8 over par round of 79. DiFranco’s solid performance follows a week in which he was named the Springfield Maroon Club Male Athlete of the Week.
Salem State won the Invitational with a team score of 606, followed by Trinity's 619 and Middlebury’s 621. Nick Antonelli of Salem State won the Invitational with a score of three under par for a two round total of 145.
Rounding out the Pride's golfers for the weekend was Ryne McEvoy (172), Alexander Brown (180), J.R. Balogun (180), and Jared Slingerland (183).
Springfield returns to competition on Wednesday, September 30th at the Blazer’s Invitational in Chicopee, Mass.
Joe Eadie enters his 20th season as the head men's golf coach at Springfield College in the fall of 2012. Eadie is the head golf professional at the Fenway Golf Range in nearby East Longmeadow, and is in the process of becoming a PGA Professional. He also lead the Pride to their first NCAA Division III Championship in program history. Read more.
