Smith was selected to the All-Conference First Team while Simeone was named the NEWMAC Coach of the Year.
Smith led Springfield at the plate this season, hitting .376 in 33 games. The senior catcher tallied 44 hits, including seven extra-base hits. He drove in 19 runs and scored 19 times for the Pride. The Sport Management major drew seven walks this season and tallied a slugging percentage of .436 and an on-base percentage of .427.
Behind the plate, the catcher threw out 20 stolen base attempts in 33 chances for a percentage of .623.
Simeone was named the conference's Coach of the Year for the second time in three years, after leading the Pride to the West Division title during the regular season and the No. 2 seed in the NEWMAC tournament.
Smith was also one of ten members of the baseball team to be selected to the conference's all-academic team this season. Springfield is currently 20-15 on the season and was selected to play in the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III New England Championship. The Pride will host Framingham State on Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. on Berry-Allen Field for a quarterfinal match up.
