Kansas City, Kan. - December 6, 2012 - After helping the women's soccer team to its third-straight trip to the NCAA Division III Championship, Vicky DiNatale and Erin Greenstein earned National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) All New England honors.DiNatale was named to the first team, while Greenstein was chosen to the second team for the second-straight season. This season, Springfield captured both the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) regular season title and the championship crown in penalty kicks.
Earlier this week, DiNatale was named to the 2012 NSCAA/Continental Tire NCAA Women's Soccer Division III All-America Second Team. A NEWMAC All-Conference First Team selection, the Weymouth, Mass. native started all 20 games on defense. In addition to be named this year's NEWMAC Championship Most Outstanding Player, she anchored the Pride's defense that gave up just 13 goals the entire season. She was also was a factor on offense, tallying four goals, included two game-winning strikes.
Greenstein has played every minute in goal this year for Springfield and owned a 13-5-2 record as she picked up her second-straight NEWMAC All-Conference First Team honor. The Framingham, Mass. product posted nine shutouts this season, bringing her program record to 29 for her career. She tallied 66 saves this year to go along with a goal against average of .59.
John Gibson, a native of London, England, enters his 13th season as head women's soccer at Springfield College in the fall of 2012. Gibson has led the Pride to the NCAA Tournament in five of the last seven years and has established the Pride as one of the top programs in the country. His clubs have registered an impressive a 152-70-19 record.
