Team Results

Springfield, Mass. -- April 5, 2013 -- The Temple University Owls captured the ECAC-EIGL Men's Gymnastics team championship for the second straight year on the first day of competition this evening at Springfield College's Blake Arena. In the All-Around competition, Army's Kip Webber and William & Mary's Daniel Potemski shared the title.

In this two-day event, the first night was reserved to crown the team title, as well as the individual all-around title. Temple placed first as a team with 411.650 points, followed by William & Mary with 410.450, University of Illinois-Chicago (409.350), host Springfield (407.700), Army (404.500), and Navy (400.350). Last year, Temple won with a score of 347.400, beating out Springfield's 332.600 when a much different scoring system was employed.

The other major category determined tonight was the all-around championship. That was shared by junior Kip Webber (Boxborough, Mass.) of the U.S. Military Academy, and by junior Daniel Potemski (Round Rock, Texas) of William & Mary. Each finished with the identical score of 82.850. Potemski finished fifth in the all-around one year ago.

Finishing third was junior Joseph Hodges (Webster, N.Y.) of UIC with a tally of 82.550. Finishing in a tie for fourth were the Temple duo of senior Allan Malone (Cookeville, Tenn.) and freshman Jon Rydzefski (Leominster, Mass.), both with scores of 81.600. The last four slots were taken by junior Chris Junghans (Dunkirk, Md.) of the U.S. Naval Academy (81.550), sophomore Jason Gaides (Alsip, Ill.) of UIC (81.500), freshman Jon Zirna (Buffalo, N.Y.) of Springfield (81.150), and freshman Chris Short (Vancouver, Wash.) of Army (79.450).

Tomorrow night, there will be six individual titles determined. In this evening's action, the top 10 finishers in each event moved on.

The following 10 individuals finished with advancing scores. Note, however, that everyone starts dead even tomorrow night. For the record, scores tonight were as follows:
