



Wellesley, Mass. - November 1, 2012 - In just his second season, Springfield College men's cross country head coach Bryan Brown was selected as the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Men's Cross Country Coach of the Year.Brown has made an immediate impact at the helm of the program, helping guide Springfield to a second-place finish at this year's conference championship. The Pride finished a close second, just 11 points behind MIT.
Springfield produced the top two finishers in the conference race as Anthony Salvucci placed first to earn Runner of the Year honors and was followed by teammate Ryan O’Connell in second.
Salvucci's finish marked the first time that a Springfield College men's cross country won the NEWMAC Championship race. The senior ran the 8,000 meter course in 25:36.49.
Brown's squad will compete in the ECAC Championships this weekend before racing in the NCAA Division III Regional Championships on Nov. 10 in Westfield, Mass. In Brown's first season last year, the Pride finished 9th, it's highest team finish since 2000.
Bryan Brown will enter his second season as the head men's cross country coach in the fall of 2012. Brown, who was a former All-American at Springfield College in track, led Springfield to a second-place finish at the NEWMAC Championships a year ago .
